Meet The Staff

Hassan Bencheqroun, M.D., Medical Director

Dr. Bencheqroun is a native of Morocco who came to the United States to train in the fields of internal medicine, critical care, and lung diseases with a special emphasis on Interventional Pulmonology. “Shortly before defending my thesis and graduating from medical school, I was involved in a car accident which nearly claimed my life,” says Dr. Bencheqroun. “Through the days that followed, I was introduced to what it means to wear the patient’s hat, feel the pain, experience the pity in people’s eyes, ask for help, and wait every day for my doctors’ visits to tell me what’s next. That experience would forever affect the way I would treat my patients and their families.” Dr. Bencheqroun further underwent specialized training at Harvard University in the field of clinical and epidemiological research specializing in Advanced Biostatistics, Secondary Data Analysis, Clinical Trials Design and Implementation, as well as Research Proposals and implementation. He is the medical Director of RESPIRE Clinic as well as RESPIRE Research with the ultimate goal of bringing clinical trials to communities and bridge the gap between patients, and state-of-the-art medications currently in research.
Dr. Bencheqroun was awarded the Patient’ Choice Award for several consecutive years.

Raul Fortunet, Director of Operations.

Mr Fortunet boasts a long career in academic research of 26 years and counting between east coast (Brown University where he is still a consultant), and west coast (University of CA San Diego), spanning clinical research trials, device trials, as well as patient lifestyle intervention trials. He has been the regular recipient of multiple awards for consecutive years, and is an expert at patient retention especially among populations of different backgrounds participating in clinical trials. He is currently studying to become a Physician Assistant, adding clinical practice to his research experience.
